PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a processing load.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit, a setting unit, and a calculation unit. The acquisition unit acquires an image. The setting unit sets a plurality of sampling points in a sampling area in the image. The calculation unit calculates feature quantity of the image in a calculation area associated with the sampling point. The setting unit sets the sampling points in at least one of an arrangement where a distance between adjacent sampling points changes according to a distance from the center of the sampling area and an arrangement where the sampling points are located on circumferences of a plurality of circles having different diameters.
