The present invention is a transmission belt provided with cords extending in the lengthwise direction of a belt, a cord-supporting layer that contacts at least a portion of the cords, an elastic rubber layer formed on one surface of the cord-supporting layer, and a compressed-rubber layer formed on the other surface of the cord-supporting layer, there being a plurality of cogs formed on the inside peripheral surface of the compressed-rubber layer at a prescribed spacing along the lengthwise direction of the belt and engaging via friction with a pulley on a side surface of the compressed-rubber layer; wherein the present invention pertains to a transmission belt in which the cords are formed of aramid fiber, the compressed-rubber layer is formed of a vulcanized rubber composition containing a rubber component and short aramid fibers, the short aramid fibers are embedded in the vulcanized rubber composition so as to line up in the widthwise direction of the belt, the strain experienced when the transmission belt is compressed under a stress of 2.0 N/mm2 in the widthwise direction is 0.5-0.8%, and the strain experienced when the transmission belt is tensioned under a weight of 2 kN in the lengthwise direction is 0.35-0.7%. |
