PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to prevent deterioration of images when the speed of a recording process is changed without changing the rotation speed of a polygon mirror.SOLUTION: A recording process speed control unit 206 notifies a scanning position calculation unit 208 of speed control information indicating the speed of photoreceptor drums 14-C, 14-M, 14-Y, and 14-K. The scanning position calculation unit 208 calculates sub scanning positions in respective scans by using the speed control information. Density conversion units 209-C, 209-M, 209-Y, and 209-K determine density ratiosαandβin converting density according to a scanning position so as to perform density conversion.
