This catheter is provided with the following: a long, flexible tubular main body; a plurality of manipulation wires run through the tubular main body, the tips of which are connected to the distal part of the tubular main body; a manipulation-part main body provided at the base end of the tubular main body; and a bending manipulation part. Said bending manipulation part has an engagement part that engages with the base ends of the manipulation wires. Via pulling operations, the bending manipulation part exerts pulling forces on the manipulation wires individually so as to bend the distal part of the tubular main body. The bending manipulation part is provided so as to be able to move relative to the manipulation-part main body. By moving the bending manipulation part and the manipulation-part main body relative to each other, the path lengths of the manipulation wires from the tips thereof to the abovementioned engagement part are simultaneously increased or decreased.
