[Class 78 (i)] In a gas-producer in which ash, clinker &c. falls on a rotating cone 2 and is discharged over a ledge 7 displaced relatively to a fixed plough 11 to be received in a. trough 8, the ash &c. is positively removed from the trough by an endless conveyer provided with one or more freely pivoted rakes or scrapers 23. As shown, the cone 2 rotates on wheel guides 3 and is provided with a toothed ring 4 by means of which it is driven. The scraper 23, which travels over a channel 12 terminating in the plough element 11, is carried by a pair of chains 20. Upstanding arms 25 on the scraper engage a fixed roller 26 to raise the scraper, at the end of its downward run, into a position B, from which it drops to position C in engagement with the ash &c. in the channel 12. The conveyer may be arranged to swing freely about the driving sprocket 15, which is supported by fixed brackets 16, the conveyer resting against an adjustable stop 22. |
