<p>An ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system and method enable a clinician to automatically delineate the plane of target anatomy in a 3D image dataset. An initial image is acquired of the approximate location of the target anatomy. Three reference images are positioned to intersect the plane of the initial image and to view a different anatomical landmark of the target anatomy. The ultrasound system then uses the three landmarks to produce an MPR image of a plane of the 3D dataset which contains the three anatomical landmarks. The target anatomy can then be outlined and measured to produce a diagnosis of the patient.</p> |
