PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a person detection device capable of identifying the shoulders of a person included in an image.SOLUTION: In a person detection device 1, an edge extraction unit 11 performs edge extraction processing for an input image 21 to generate a horizontal edge image 22. A shoulder detection unit 12 sequentially designates pixels in a frame of the horizontal edge image 22 as reference pixels. The shoulder detection unit 12 identifies a left pixel group and a right pixel group located at the left/right of a reference pixel. The shoulder detection unit 12 calculates likelihood that the reference pixel may be a center of the shoulders of a person on the basis of a pixel value of the pixels contained in the left pixel group and a pixel value of the pixels contained in the right pixel group. The central position of the shoulders of the person is determined as the position of the pixel satisfying prescribed conditions in the pixels in the frame and having the likelihood. The shoulder detection unit 12 determines the shoulder width of the person on the basis of a distance between the left pixel group and the right pixel group. |
