<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper-based sliding member in which a solid lubricant is embedded in a substrate composed of a copper alloy dispersed with a needle-like Mn-Si type compound and which is excellent in seizure resistance owing to a controlled dispersion state of the needle-like Mn-Si type compound.SOLUTION: In a copper alloy in which a needle-like Mn-Si type compound 3 is dispersed in a base material 2, 50% or more of all the needle-like Mn-Si type compound 3 having a length in the long axis of 50μm or larger are composed of a plurality of small particles 4. When the copper alloy is used as a substrate 1 for a copper-based sliding member and causes falling of the needle-like Mn-Si type compound 3 during sliding, the small particles 4 constituting the needle-like Mn-Si type compound 3 falls instead, reducing the frequency of falling of such coarse needle-like Mn-Si type compound as to scratch a solid lubricant exposed to the sliding surface. Seizure is thereby suppressed.</p> |
