A method for treating or preventing metabolic bone disease in a patient comprising administering to the patient a composition comprising an effective amount of a spinasterol glucoside derivative represented by the following Chemical Formula 1, or an optical isomer, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, a hydrate or a solvate thereof: wherein, R1 to R4 are the same or different, and are independently —H or a linear or branched alkyl of C1 to C6, and Ra to Rd are the same or different, and are independently —H, or a linear or branched alkyl of C1 to C4.
