The invention relates to a method for constructing a shaped body layer-by-layer by means of 3-D ink-jet printing method using a piezo print head (2) having a plurality of nozzles (6), each of which nozzle is associated with a piezo element (8), which can act on the associated nozzle in order to discharge ink therefrom. The piezo print head (2) is moved over a construction area under the control of a control unit, and during the movement the piezo elements are individually controlled for the positionally selective application of filled ink in order to thus apply a layer having a contour specified by the control unit. The applied layer is allowed to harden, and the desired shaped body is constructed by consecutively applying layers having a respective specified contour. According to the invention, the control unit is designed, after a specified number of printed layers and/or if the control unit detects a reduced discharge of ink from a nozzle (6) of the piezo print head (2), to move the piezo print head out of the construction area, then to subject the nozzle or nozzles having reduced discharge or all nozzles of the piezo print head to a nozzle cleaning in that the piezo element (8) or the piezo elements (8) of the nozzles to be cleaned are excited by means of a frequency of at least 20 kHz for the production of ultrasonic waves in order to break up and detach any deposits in the nozzle. |
