According to an embodiment, if a state of access to a first chunk is a first state requiring high-speed access, and the first chunk is in a second state of a first logical address of the first chunk being mapped to a first physical address of a second storage device side which is slower and larger capacity than a first storage device, a storage controller mapping management unit changes the first chunk from the second state to a third state. Thus, the first logical address is mapped to both a second physical address on the first storage device side and the first physical address on the second storage device side.
