Provided are: a coating composition that has high scratch resistance and that can be used to obtain an acrylic hard coat film that exhibits excellent adhesion with an anti-reflection film; and an optical member that comprises the hard coat film that is obtained using the coating composition. The coating composition comprises an acrylate component (A) and a metal oxide (B), the mass ratio (B)/(A) of the metal oxide (B) to the acrylate component (A) is 0.1-1.5, the acrylate component (A) comprises the substances (a-1), (a-2), and (a-3) that are indicated below, and the content (X) of (a-1), the content (Y) of (a-2), and the content (Z) of (a-3) satisfy the conditions (1) and (2) that are indicated below. The optical member comprises the hard coat film that is obtained using this coating composition. (a-1) is a polyfunctional acrylate compound comprising three or more acrylate groups in one molecule thereof. (a-2) is a dendritic aliphatic compound comprising an acrylate group on an end thereof. (a-3) is an acrylate compound comprising one or two acrylate groups in one molecule thereof, or a mixture of an acrylate compound comprising one or two acrylate groups in one molecule thereof and an acrylate compound other than (a-1) or (a-2). Condition (1): in the acrylate component (A), (X) is 40-60 mass% and the total of (Y) and (Z) is 60-40 mass%. Condition (2): (Z) is 0 mass% or more but less than 100 mass% of the total amount of (Y) and (Z). |
