PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent retreat of a vehicle in starting on a sloping road and prevent overheat of electric elements in an inverter circuit for controlling a motor.SOLUTION: The travel control device includes a control unit 30. The control unit 30 detects that a vehicle moves in an opposite direction in relation to a travel range, and controls a travelling motor 16 so that creep torque allowing the vehicle to start slowly on a flat road is generated. The device monitors a driving state of the vehicle in a predetermined cycle, and when the travel range is selected and both an accelerator and a brake are turned off and when it is determined that the vehicle is moved in the opposite direction by stopping the travelling motor 16, drives the travelling motor 16 and controls the travelling motor 16 so that torque higher than torque before stopping the motor is provided. |
