<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for detecting a magnetic metal foreign mixed into an object to be inspected.SOLUTION: A device for detecting a magnetic metal foreign mixed into an object to be inspected which flows in a pipeline has a detection coil unit, an amplifier, a signal processing part, and an automatic three-way valve 25. A detection coil unit includes a detection coil and a permanent magnet which becomes a core of the detection coil. A main pipe 16 in the pipeline 15a has an upstream side part 18 and a downstream side part 19 connected to each other via an automatic three-way valve 25, and a branch pipe 17 extends from the automatic three-way valve 25. The detection coil unit is used for the upstream side part 18 and is connected to the signal processing part. When the detection coil unit detects a magnetic metal foreign, the automatic three-way valve 25 is operated to close the downstream side part 19 on the basis of a signal from the signal processing part, while the branch pipe 17 is opened to discharge the detected magnetic metal foreign into the branch pipe 17.</p> |
