The present invention optimally suppresses disproportionation of nitric oxide transported while stored in a high-pressure gas container, and reduces the quantities of nitrous oxide and nitrogen dioxide, thereby preserving the quality of the nitric oxide and contributing to providing high-purity nitric oxide. When nitric oxide is to be transported while stored in a high-pressure gas container, the nitric oxide is charged into the high-pressure gas container at a gauge pressure of 1.96-3.5 MPa for storage, and transported with the temperature of the exterior of the high-pressure gas container being kept at ‒15 to 5°C.
