The method involves executing an authentication algorithm at the level of a SIM card (10), and verifying that a value of a sequence counter (SQsim) of the SIM card lies in a determined interval with respect to a value of a network sequence counter (SQnetwork). An SMS is transmitted from a telecommunications terminal to a VLR (11/12) of a GSM network if a value of a counter of the SIM card is greater than a limit value. The value of the network sequence counter is synchronized with the value of the sequence counter of the SIM card.
