The invention relates to a beverage appliance and a method of brewing coffee. The beverage appliance according to the invetnion comprises a housing, wherein said housing includes a liquid reservoir. The appliance further comprises a grinding mechanism, which is positioned in said housing and is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The appliance also comprises a liquid outlet, spaced laterally from said grinding mechanism and said liquid outlet being movable between a retracted position and an extended position.
