Embodiments of the present invention relate to a method and an apparatus for supporting a multimedia service in an electronic device. The method for supporting a multimedia service in an electronic device includes an application processor receiving at least one of a control message or IP packetized voice data via the second communication processor; and forwarding the control message received from the second communication processor to the first communication processor in response to the occurrence of a handover event from the first communication processor to the second communication processor, while an IP voice packetized data call is performed in a first call session of the first communication processor.
