<p>The apparatus includes a front panel having an inclined front surface (120, fig 1) provided with an opening for laundry (121, fig 1), a door (130, fig1) pivotally mounted to the inclined front surface to open or close the opening, and a damper module (200, fig 2) provided between the front panel and the door to apply torque to the door in a direction opposite to a rotating direction of the door when the door is rotated due to self-load (self-weight) of the door. The damper module applies torque to the door in a direction opposite to a rotating direction of the door when an angle between the front panel and the door is within a range of a prescribed angle. A door on an inclined surface tends to open and close due its centre of gravity, the damper prevents this by applying torque in a direction opposite the rotation due to gravity. The damper comprises an elastic member 210 with a coil potion 211 (torsion spring), and a guide member 220. The interaction between the elastic member 210 and the guide groove acts to apply torque to the door in a specific direction (figures 4 and 5).</p> |
