A mechanism to allow pivoting of a back rest on an office chair wherein an adjusting device is provided for adjusting the pivoting resistance and wherein the adjusting device is actuated by an electromotive drive 7. The mechanism may employ a spindle 8 and a spring 9 to make adjustments to the tension. A control device 14 may adjust the mechanism based on a measured characteristic of a user of the chair. This may take the form of a weight sensor 13 which can measure the position or weight distribution of a user on a seat 10. |
