<p>An FMCW radar apparatus comprises a voltage controlled oscillator VCO 20 whichproduces a microwave transmit signal that varies according an applied voltage control signal Vvco, the signal being suitable for transmission by an antenna 40, a frequency comparison circuit that compares the frequency of the transmit signal, or a frequency derived there from, with a reference frequency and produces a frequency control voltage VPLL, a voltage signal generator 10 which produces a ramped modulation signal that is combined with the frequency control voltage VPLL, to produce Vvco, and a compensation means which determines the sensitivity of the VCO as defined by the relationship between a change in the value of the ramped modulation signal and the corresponding change in frequency of the transmit signal and from this produces one or more items of compensation information that may be used to compensate for changes in the sensitivity of the VCO.</p> |
