The present invention provides a stretched cellulose ester film for protecting a polarizing plate, wherein the cellulose ester film for protecting a polarizing plate is manufactured by minimizing the use of a plasticizer which is the main cause of haze increase and contamination of a facility for manufacturing films. When the film is stretched 120 % or more at Tg-20°C- Tg+50°C toward the width direction, the condition of the progress direction modulus (Em) and the width direction modulus (Et) in the film is 1.2 < Et/Em <1.7 and the haze is no more than 0.4%.
