发明名称 Distributed RSVP-TE in a multi-chassis node architecture
摘要 A network device includes a multi-chassis system in which each chassis includes a RSVP-TE protocol stack that may provide RSVP-TE services for LSP tunnels associated with each chassis. The multi-chassis system may include an administrative chassis. The administrative chassis may forward RSVP messages to other chassis of the network device. The administrative chassis may encapsulate the RSVP messages with a chassis address. The other chassis may de-encapsulate the RSVP messages and process the RSVP messages according to the RSVP-TE protocol. The administrative chassis may obtain session information associated with other chassis based on RSVP messages received. The administrative chassis may manage adjacency mechanisms and failure and recovery mechanisms. The multi-chassis system including the distributed RSVP-TE protocol stacks may minimize scalability issues and improve performance when high-capacity routing and/or switching services are needed.

主权项 1. A device provided in a network, comprising: a first chassis, where the first chassis includes a first plurality of line cards and a first resource reservation protocol (RSVP) stack associated with network traffic carried by the first plurality of line cards, and a second chassis, where the second chassis includes a second plurality of line cards and a second RSVP stack associated with network traffic carried by the second plurality of line cards, where: the first chassis further includes: a proxy module, where the proxy module is to:receive a first RSVP message;determine whether the first RSVP message corresponds to a node-oriented RSVP message or an interface-oriented RSVP message; andpass the first RSVP message to the second RSVP stack when a determination is made that the first RSVP message is the interface-oriented RSVP message, the first RSVP message including a path reservation message that includes information indicative of a reservation of a path in the network; andprocess the first RSVP message when it is determined that the first RSVP message is the node-oriented RSVP message.
