Capsules with hydrophilic core and polymer coating and process for the preparation thereof

Core shell capsules comprises; a hydrophilic core. A, a polymer shell C comprising an external layer formed from an aqueous polymer solution, and an intermediate oil layer B characterised in that the intermediate layer contains hydrophobic particles with a diameter smaller than the capsule diameter. The particles may be spherical and 1-50 µm in size. The hydrophobic particles may be a microcrystalline wax or modified silicon dioxide. The polymer may be sodium alginate. A method for producing the capsules is also disclosed. The particles may be formed by pumping the fluids through a nozzle with 3 coaxially aligned tubes. The nozzle may have a fourth coaxially aligned tube D. The fourth tube may pump out a gas.
