PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble yellow pigment (compound) high in solubility in water and excellent in various fastness such as water resistance, moisture resistance, ozone gas resistance, abrasion resistance and light resistance, especially light resistance, a yellow ink composition for various recordings, especially inkjet recording, containing the same, and a colored body colored by the ink composition.SOLUTION: There is provided a water-soluble azo compound represented by the formula (1) or a salt thereof.
