PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microlens array unit and a solid-state image pickup device capable of obtaining high resolution images refocus effects.SOLUTION: The microlens array unit includes: a base plate; a first microlens group which has plural first microlenses each having a convex shape and a first focal length formed on the base plate; and a second microlens group which has plural second microlenses each having a convex shape and a second focal length different from the first focal length formed on the base plate. A first image-forming plane of the first microlens group and a second image-forming plane of the second microlens group are parallel to each other. The distance between the first image-forming plane and the second image-forming plane in a direction perpendicular to the first image-forming plane is 20% or less of the first focal length. The plural first microlenses and the plural second microlenses are disposed so that images projected on the base plate do not overlap with each other.
