PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a reduction effect of speckle noise without affecting an image to be displayed on a projection surface.SOLUTION: A projector 1 comprises: a laser light source 11 emitting a laser beam; a display panel 20 modulating the laser beam according to an image signal to emit image light; a projector lens 41 projecting the image light emitted by the display panel 20 onto a screen S (projection surface); projector lens movement means moving the projector lens 41 in a direction intersecting an optical axis; and optical path change means changing an optical path of the image light so as not to change a position of the image displayed on the screen S when the projector lens movement means moves the projector lens 41.
