PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a medium processing device in which, for example, stability of transferability of a protective film layer is excellent and a transfer speed of the protective film layer can be increased.SOLUTION: A medium processing device of the embodiment comprises a transportation part, a ribbon supply part, and a heating roller. The transportation part transports a medium. The ribbon supply part supplies a thermal transfer ribbon which includes a base material, a protective film layer superposed on the base material and an adhesion layer superposed on the protective film layer under the condition that the adhesion layer faces one surface of the medium. The heating roller includes a core part equipped with a heat source, an elastic part covering the outer periphery of the core part and a metal part covering the outer periphery of the elastic part and faces the transportation part. The thermal transfer ribbon is supplied between the metal part and one surface of the medium transported by the transportation part, and, by heating the thermal transfer ribbon and compressing the thermal transfer ribbon with the transportation part, the protective film layer is transferred to the medium. |
