The present invention relate to an apparatus for setting the printing position of a printer head and a setting method thereof, which are to print at high resolution by adjusting the printing position of a printer head in order to correspond to the surface bending unit of a moving object to be printed. The apparatus for setting the printing position of a printer head comprises: a frame which is installed in the upper part of a moving object to be printed in a horizontal direction to the moving direction; multiple elevating guide members which are connected with the frame and where a printer head is installed respectively; a head operating unit which elevates the printer head up and down inside the elevating guide member; a first distance sensing unit which is installed in the printer head, and outputs an ON signal when the printer head descends to within a first distance from the object to be printed; a second distance sensing unit which is installed in the printer head, and outputs an ON signal when the printer head descends to within a second distance from the object to be printed in a state where the ON signal is outputted by the first distance sensing unit; and a control unit which controls the operation of the head operating unit in order to elevate the printer head according to the ON signals of the first and second distance sensing units.
