PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily handle requests to call a monitoring center from many elevator cars which are made at the same time without increasing reception lines nor control persons.SOLUTION: A remote monitoring system for an elevator includes: a communication control processing part 61 which determines whether the number of times of redialing for requesting a monitoring center 90 to make a call through an intercom 22 in an elevator car 20 reaches the predetermined number of times; a voice guide control processing part 62 which makes the intercom 22 output a predetermined voice guidance including a question associated with the state in the elevator car 20 when it is determined that the number of times of redialing reaches the predetermined number of times; an in-elevator-car operation panel 21 which generates an answer signal corresponding to an answer to the question output in voice from the intercom 22 based upon predetermined input operation; an in-elevator-car state information generation processing part 63 which generates information (in-elevator-car state information) on the state in the elevator car 20 based upon the answer signal generated by the in-elevator-car operation panel 21; and a transmission and reception device 70 which transmits the in-elevator-car state information to the monitoring center 90 through data communication.
