PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device compatibly attaining both of reduction of individual difference in color tones caused by the individual difference in color-matching function and expansion of a display color gamut.SOLUTION: The image display device displays an image based on an image signal consisting of a plurality of primary-color signals. The image display device includes: illumination means that emits light beams corresponding to each of the plurality of primary colors and emits, for at least prescribed one primary color, a plurality of light beams including a first light beam, the emission peak wavelength of which is in a short-wavelength side with respect to the peak wavelength of the color-matching function of the prescribed primary color, and a second light beam, the emission peak wavelength of which is in a long-wavelength side with respect to the peak wavelength of the color-matching function of the prescribed primary color; and light modulation means that modulates the light beams from the illumination means on the basis of the image signal. |
