摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for detecting arcing in a DC power system, which can distinguish between DC arcing and load-switching noise.SOLUTION: At least a pulse count PC per predetermined time interval and a pulse duration PD per predetermined time interval are determined within a plurality of predetermined time intervals. The pulse count PC per predetermined time interval and the pulse duration PD per predetermined time interval can correspond to the number and the intensity of arcing events which may occur in a DC power system. The pulse count PC and the pulse duration PD are processed using one or more arc fault detection algorithms, whereby DC arcs and load-switching noise are distinguished from each other with increased reliability to output an arc fault indication 718.
