PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device capable of achieving the smooth movement of an optical unit in a sub-scanning direction with an inexpensive and simple configuration, and increasing the abrasion resistance of a glass slider.SOLUTION: An image reading device 2 includes: table glass 24; ADF glass 25; an optical unit 29 configured to move in a sub-scanning direction, and to read an original image; and a pair of glass sliders 31, 32 mounted on both ends of the optical unit 29 in a main scanning direction, and configured to slide while abutting to the table glass 24 or the ADF glass 25 via protrusions 31a, 31b and 32a, 32b protruded in the upper parts. An interval P in the sub-scanning direction between the protrusions 31a, 31b (32a, 32b) protruded in one of the pair of glass sliders 31, 32 and the protrusions 32a, 32b (31a, 31b) protruded in the other is set so as to be larger than an interval δ in the sub-scanning direction between the table glass 24 and the ADF glass 25 (P>δ). |
