PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner and actuator, capable of preventing breakage of wiring connected to a strain sensor in a gimbal structure comprising a movable unit supported inside a swingably supported frame body unit such that the movable unit is swingable relative to the frame body and of detecting motion of the movable unit using the strain sensor, and to provide a highly reliable image display device and head-mounted display having such optical scanner.SOLUTION: An optical scanner 1 includes; a movable mirror unit 11 which is swingable around a Y-axis; a frame body unit 13 which is swingable around an X-axis perpendicular to the Y-axis; shafts 12a, 12b which connect the movable mirror unit 11 to the frame body unit 13; a stationary unit 15; shafts 14a, 14b which connect the frame body unit 13 to the stationary unit 15; a strain sensor 51 which is located on the shaft 14a to detect deformation of the shaft 14a; and a first signal processing unit which receives a detection signal from the strain sensor 51 and outputs a signal based on bending deformation of the shaft 14a. |
