The present invention relates to an air conditioner for a vehicle. More specifically, the present invention relates to an air conditioner for a vehicle having a control unit which can control a rear filter in which a deodorizing filter blocks a flow channel and filters before starting a vehicle and right after stopping the air conditioner to remove an odor generating from condensate of an evaporator after operating an air conditioner or stopping the air conditioner in order to filter a smell introduced from the outside and a smell generated from an evaporator and introduce inside a passenger compartment for providing pleasant smell. The air conditioner includes an air conditioner case (10) in which an evaporator (30) and a heater core (32) are arranged and a ventilator (34) is installed at an entrance; and a moving filter (40) installed at a filter storing portion (28) inside the air conditioner case (10) and movably installed on a lower flow channel of the evaporator (30) to deodorize air passing through the evaporator (30). To prevent a smell from being introduced to a passenger compartment at an initial stage of the operation of the air conditioner for a vehicle, the air conditioner further includes a control unit (60) controlling the moving filter (40) in such a way that the moving filter (40) located at the filter storing portion (28) is moved to a filtering position at a lower side of the evaporator (30) when a specific signal is detected before operating the air conditioner for a vehicle.
