<p>PURPOSE: A propulsion device for a ship and a ship having the same are provided to simplify a power transfer system by not requiring an existing hollow shaft and reduce an area required for lubrication. CONSTITUTION: A propulsion device for a ship comprises a front propeller, a rear propeller, and a reversing and rotating unit (30). The reversing and rotating unit is composed of a housing (31), a rotary shaft (40), multiple bevel gears (33, 34, 35), a cylindrical connection member (37), one or more inner bearings (54, 55), an outer bearing, and a cover member. The rear propeller is fixed to the outer surface of the rear end of the rotary shaft. The front propeller is supported to the outer surface of the gap between the rear propeller and the housing to be rotated. The bevel gears are installed inside of a gear room and reverse the rotation of the rotary shaft to transfer the reversed rotation to the hub of the front propeller. The connection member connects one of the bevel gears to the hub of the front propeller. The cover member closes the opening of the gear room formed between the outer bearing and the rear end of the housing.</p> |
