<p>An objective of the present invention is to reduce the size of a vehicle headlight that uses a semiconductor laser device in a light source. The vehicle headlight is provided with a projection lens that is arranged on an optical axis which extends in a front-back direction of a vehicle, a semiconductor laser device that emits laser light, a light-emitting device that includes an optically transparent member which absorbs at least a part of the laser light from the semiconductor laser device for wave conversion, and a first reflection surface that reflects the light from the light-emitting device and emits the light forward through the projection lens. The vehicle headlight is provided with light detection means that is arranged between the projection lens and the light-emitting device and below the optical axis to detect light of a specific color, a second reflection surface that is arranged ahead of a front end of the first reflection surface and reflects the light from the light-emitting device toward the light detection means, and a control means for controlling the semiconductor laser device based on a result of the detection by the light detection means so that the semiconductor laser device emits no laser light.</p> |
