The purpose of the present invention is to provide a linear motor having a small, lightweight stator without increasing the amount of magnets used even when the full length of the linear motor is long. In a linear motor having a stator (2) and a movable element (1) having a coil (1a), the stator (2) has two plate-like parts extending in the moving direction of the movable element (1), and the two plate-like parts are provided facing each other so as to magnetically couple with each other with the moving region of the movable element (1) therebetween. A plurality of teeth (21a, 22a) are arranged side by side in the moving direction on the two plate-like parts on the surfaces facing each other such that the teeth (21a (22a)) of one plate-like part are zigzagged in relation to the teeth (22a (21a)) of the other plate-like part. The movable element (1) has two magnets (1c, 1d) and three yokes (1b) alternately arranged inside the coil (1a) along the moving direction. The two magnets (1c, 1d) are magnetized along the moving direction, and the magnetization directions are opposite each other. |
