PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To draw superimposed graphics more efficiently in image processing which processes vector graphics or two-dimensional computer graphics.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: an intersection generation unit which generates intersection information including a position of an intersection between a boundary of a figure and pixels arranged in a scan line direction of an image, and layer information indicating a hierarchical relation between the figure and other figures; and a span generation unit which generates a span, which is an aggregate of pixels included from an intersection (start point) between one boundary of the figure crossing a scan line of the image and the scan line to an intersection (end point) between the other boundary of the figure and the scan line, excluding an existence area of a figure of an upper layer in the hierarchical relation.
