PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable communications with other communication apparatuses present in a wide range, and achieve both of reduction of power consumption and improvement in a gain.SOLUTION: A communication apparatus includes: a cross dipole that is constituted of a first dipole provided in a vertical direction and a second dipole provided in a horizontal direction; a first power supply part that supplies AC power to the first dipole; a second power supply part that supplies AC power different in a phase by nearly 90-degrees from the first power supply part to the second dipole; and a switch that causes the first power supply part and the second power supply part to individually turn and off by an arbitrary combination of the first power supply part and the second power supply part. When the cross dipole is made to generate a circularly polarized wave and a detection part detects presence of a response with respect to the circularly polarized wave, the switch is controlled so as to cause the first dipole and the second dipole to sequentially generate a vertically polarized wave and a horizontally polarized wave, and cause the first dipole or the second dipole to generate the vertically polarized wave or the horizontally polarized wave in which intensity of the response detected by the detection part is relatively strong. |
