PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil capable of stably giving good friction characteristics to a metal material having a nanocrystal grain layer on its surface, and to provide a lubrication system using the same.SOLUTION: The lubricating oil of the present invention is applied to a metal material having a nanocrystal grain layer on its surface and is obtained by blending an organic compound having a polarity. The lubrication system using the lubricating oil of the present invention is capable of stably giving good friction characteristics to a metal material having a nanocrystal grain layer on its surface and is excellent in wear resistance and durability.
