PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus capable of preventing adhesion of dust or the like on the surface of an image display panel.SOLUTION: An image display apparatus comprises: a base substrate 1 including an image display panel 13; and a housing 4 having a light passage space 41 formed therein and placed on the base substrate 1. The image display panel 13 has an image display area 139 and emits light toward the light passage space 41 from the image display area 139. The housing 4 has a light transmission part 44 made of a material through which light transmits, and light advancing through the light passage space 41 from the image display area 139 passes through the light transmission part 44. The light passage space 41 is sealed.
