<p>A washing machine (100) is provided with: a vibrating system which includes a wash and spin tub (3) which holds laundry, a water tub (2) which surrounds the wash and spin tub (3), and a vibration damping device (19) which supports the water tub (2) in an outer frame (1); and the outer frame (1). The vibration damping device (19) has a suspension (9) which includes a compression coil spring (16). The compression coil spring (16) has a long pitch portion (18) at the center portion of the compression coil spring (16), and short pitch portions (17) at both ends of the compression coil spring (16). When the vibrating system performs vibration that includes the vertical direction, the maximum amplitude in the vertical direction at resonation time of the vibrating system if there is no laundry in the wash and spin tub (3) is greater than the maximum amplitude in the vertical direction at resonation time of the vibrating system if there is laundry in the wash and spin tub (3).</p> |
