PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a member with a sealing material layer, in which the excellent sealing material layer can be formed at a low cost and with high reproducibility even when the whole of a substrate cannot be heated.SOLUTION: The method for producing the member with the sealing material layer comprises: a substrate preparation step of preparing the substrate having a frame-shaped sealing area; an application step of applying sealing material paste onto the sealing area of the substrate to form a frame-shaped coating layer; a baking step of irradiating the substrate with a laser beam for baking while scanning the laser beam along the frame-shaped coating layer to form the sealing material layer; and a pretreatment step (which is carried out before the baking step) of irradiating the substrate with the laser beam at an irradiation starting position within 0.2-0.5 D/V [s] time (in which D [mm] is a beam diameter of the laser beam and V [mm/s] is a scanning speed).
