PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of detecting abnormal temperature rise to stop a heat source before failure and deterioration occur to a fixing member.SOLUTION: A fixing device 80 includes a movable fixing member 81, a pressure rotating body 83 that is brought into pressure contact with the fixing member 81 to form a fixing nip for a transfer material between the fixing member 81 and the pressure rotating body 83, a heat source 82 that heats the fixing member 81, and temperature detection means for detecting a surface temperature of at least one or more local temperature detection ranges 90 of the fixing member 81. When the fixing member 81 is heated by the heat source 82, a surface temperature in the temperature detection ranges 90 of the fixing member 81 is made to increase at a higher rate than an increase rate of a surface temperature in almost the entire portion of the fixing member 81 other than the temperature detection ranges 90. |
