PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an image signal to be read at high speed from a specific photographing area of an image pickup element even when the image signal is read from an entire photographing area of the image pickup element.SOLUTION: An imaging device having a plurality of photographing areas comprises: imaging means of generating an image signal corresponding to an image of light incident upon the photographing area; attention area determination means of determining an area of attention of an image indicated by the image signal on the basis of the image signal output from the imaging means; control means of having a first control part performing control so as to image the photographing area corresponding to the area of attention out of the plurality of photographing areas and having the image of light made incident under a first imaging condition, and a second control part performing control so as to image the photographing area other than the photographing area corresponding to the area of attention and having the image of light made incident under a second imaging condition different from the first imaging condition; and focus detection means of detecting a focus adjustment status of the area of attention. The first control part performs control so as to conduct imaging area at a frame rate higher than that of the second control part. |
