PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power module protection device capable of improving quality.SOLUTION: A power module protection device that protects a switching element 4 incorporated in a power module 2 mounted on a radiation fin, includes an element temperature sensor 6 that is incorporated in the power module 2 and detects a temperature of the switching element 4 incorporated in the power module 2, a fin temperature sensor 5 that detects a temperature of the radiation fin; and a microcomputer 9 (operation limit circuit) that calculates a temperature difference between the element temperature detected by the element temperature sensor 6 and the fin temperature detected by the fin temperature sensor 5, and when the element temperature is higher than the fin temperature and the temperature difference is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value, generates an operation limit command 11a limiting an operation of the switching element 4 to output the command to a drive circuit 12 of the switching element 4. |
