A synthetic double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) comprising first and second nucleic acid strands and a duplex region of at least 25 base pairs, wherein said first strand is 25-34 nucleotides in length and said second strand of said dsRNA consists of 5′-GCUGUUUCUACAUCAUUUGUAUUCUGC-3′ (SEQ ID NO: 1239) and said dsRNA reduces β-catenin target gene expression when said double stranded nucleic acid is introduced into a mammalian cell.
