A liquid crystal display device, comprising a first substrate on a display surface side and a second substrate on a rear surface side, which are arranged so as to be opposed to each other via liquid crystal, the second substrate comprising a plurality of data signal lines, a plurality of gate signal lines, a plurality of pixels arrayed in a row direction and a column direction, a plurality of pixel electrodes formed individually so as to correspond to the plurality of pixels, respectively, a plurality of common electrodes that extend in one of the column direction and the row direction and are arranged so as to be opposed to the plurality of pixel electrodes, and a plurality of shield electrodes overlapping, through intermediation of an insulating film, at least one of the plurality of data signal lines and the plurality of gate signal lines, the plurality of common electrodes comprising a first common electrode to which a first voltage is supplied and a second common electrode to which a second voltage different from the first voltage is supplied, the first common electrode and the second common electrode being alternately arranged in one of the row direction and the column direction, wherein, in plan view, each of the plurality of shield electrodes is formed to overlap at least a gap formed between the first common electrode and the second common electrode that are adjacent to each other.
