This glass composition is characterized in containing, expressed as mol%, 66-72% SiO2, 1-4% Al2O3, 8-15% MgO, 1-8% CaO, 12-16% Na2O, and 0-1% K2O, MgO + CaO being within a range of 12-17%, and the molar ratio of CaO/(MgO + CaO) being within a range of 0.1-0.4. This glass composition is suitable for manufacturing using the float method, and is suitable for chemical strengthening.
